Stall ideas for your Summer Fair

Asteroid Blaster
Fill some 2-litre fizzy drink bottles with water and place a pingpong ball on top of ech bottle.  Borrow some really powerful water pistols.  The object of the game is to try and knock off the pingpong balls by shooting them with the water pistols.  Have a set time per go, e.g. 1 minute.  Give a small prize to anyone who manages to knock off all the balls within their set time.  Have a trial run first to check whether heavier balls are needed.  If the pingpong balls come off too easily, try using golf balls instead.

Ball in a Bucket
You can either buy one of these pre-made or ask someone to make one for you.  The object of the game is to get a ball to remain in the bucket, which is difficult due to the angle of the bucket. Charge a set amount e.g. 50p for three balls, and have a selection of small prizes for winners.

Balloons in Car
Try approaching a local car dealer and ask if they would be prepared to donate a prize, such as a car for a weekend.  Ask them to provide a car for the Summer Fair and fill it with balloons (the car dealer may even do this for you).  Charge people to guess how many balloons are in the car.  The closest guess wins.

BBQ
Who can resist the smell of sausages and burgers cooking on a BBQ? A local butcher may loan you a large, gas BBQ if you purchase your sausages and burgers from them.

Bottle Tombola
Ask for donations in the weeks preceding your Summer Fair.  Use cloakroom tickets to label the winning bottles - winning numbers usually end in a 5 or zero.  If possible, have a tombola drum to put all the tickets in.

Bubble Swords
Children always love bubbles.  Bubble swords or bubble wands produce very large bubbles and are great fun.  Make sure you have plenty, as they quickly run out. (See Online Shop)

Chocolate Fountain
A bit messy but very popular!  Buy some kebab sticks and let people put together their own strawberry and marshmallow kebab and then dip it into the chocolate fountain.  Have plenty of serviettes on hand and aprons for the volunteers running the stall!

Coconut Shy
A traditional Summer Fair stall.

Face Painting
Popular with younger children.  Make sure you use quality face paints.

Football Spin the Arrow
Make up a board marked up into segments (6 or 8) with a spinning arrow in the middle.  Write the name of a popular football team in each of the segments.  Customers 'purchase' a team for 50p.  Once all the teams have been 'sold', the arrow is spun.  The person who selected the team that the arrow stops at is the winner.  Have footballs to give to the winners.  These can be purchased quite cheaply and this stall can make a good profit.  It is particularly popular with boys so make sure you have plenty of prizes.

Hook a Duck
A great stall for younger children.  You can either buy a 'Hook a Duck' set or make your own.  Mark a cross on the bottom of some of the ducks (25% gives reasonable odds for winning a prize). Fill a small paddling pool with water and add the ducks.  Children who 'hook' a duck with a mark on the bottom win a prize.  As this stall is aimed at younger children, it is a good idea to have a consolation prizes (such as sweets)  for those that don't win.

Lob the Loo Roll
This stall doesn't make a huge amount of money but creates a lot of interest.  The object of the game is very simple - to throw a loo roll into a toilet bowl.  Approach your local builders merchants or DIY stall and ask if they will donate a toilet - sometimes they have damaged stock that they can't sell and are therefore are happy to donate.  If possible obtain 3 toilets so that more than one person can have a go at a time.  Buy some cheap toilet rolls and seal with parcel tape so that they don't unravel.  Have small prizes for anyone who manages to lob their toilet roll into the toilet bowl. Our Whoopee Toilet Putty makes a great prize - Summer Fete Products.

Panning for Gold
JuniorGeo sells a 'panning for gold' kit at a reasonable price.  Children will love messing with the water and sand and finding their 'gold'.  Visit the JuniorGeo website for further details.

Pingpong Hoopla
A twist on the traditional Hoopla stall.  The object of the game is to throw a ping pong ball into a glass jar.  Have a selection of different sized jars laid out on a table.  You can either put small prizes in the jars or put a small piece of paper in the jar, stating what prize has been won.  Put the prizes out on display to create interest.

Plant Stall
Ask parents to donate plants and / or approach your local garden centre as they may be prepared to make a donation.

Red Arrows
Arrange a number of  playing cards on a board - this will need to be stood up vertically.  Customers have 3 (red) darts per go and must try and score above a certain number  e.g. 21 - you will need to decide on winning scores beforehand.  Anyone scoring above this number wins a small prize.  Alternatively, for school Summer Fairs, see if the teachers will provide photos of themselves that can be pinned to the board.  The object of the game would then be to get a dart in three different photos.  Make sure that this stall is positioned carefully so that no one can walk in front of it.

Refreshments

Self explanatory.  Have tables for people to sit at whilst they have their refreshments, preferably with some shade.  Strawberries and cream always sell well.

Splat the Rat
You can either make one of these yourself from a piece of drainpipe or purchase a ready-made game from a fundraising catalogue (see Suppliers).  The 'rat' is dropped into the top of the tube and the customer has to try and hit it with a bat (rounders type bat) as it falls out the bottom.  This is not as easy as it sounds!  Charge per 3 goes.

Sports Tombola
Keep with the Summer theme and have a Sports Tombola with prizes such as footballs, rounders sets, badminton or tennis sets, cricket bats, skipping ropes, Hoola Hoops etc.  You can purchase the prizes individually and label them up yourself - see the Tombola Sports Set in our Online Shop. Alternatively, larger Sports Tombola sets are available from a number of companies (see
Suppliers).

Temporary Tattoos
These can be purchased from a range of suppliers.  Make sure you purchase a good quality brand.

Tin Can Alley
Save up old tin cans (make sure they are thoroughly cleaned) and arrange into a pyramid.  The object of the game is to knock all the tins down with 3 balls.  Try using small balls soaked in water for added interest.

Treasure Hunt
You can make this as messy as you like!  Have a large tub filled with baked beans or spaghetti or gunge and bury a number of golf balls into the tub.  Mark a few of the golf balls with a cross - these are the winning balls.  The customer has to place their hands in the tub and search for a ball.  This is meant to be a fun attraction rather than something that requires skill, so just have small prizes to give to winners.  You will needs lots of them as kids just love this stall!  Remember to have plenty of paper towels available!
